The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has announced the timetable for the 2024 Civil Services Preliminary Examination. As per the announcement, the OPSC CSE Prelims is set to occur on October 12. Candidates may view the official notification on the commission’s website at opsc.gov.in. The recruitment initiative aims to fill 265 positions.
“In continuation of this Office Notice No. 3207/PSC, dated 15.05.2025, it is hereby informed to all concerned that the Commission has resolved to conduct the Odisha Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination-2024, in accordance with Advt. No. 07 of 2024-25 on 12.10.2025 (Sunday). The comprehensive schedule for the aforementioned examination will be announced later. Candidates are encouraged to check the Commission’s website at opsc.gov.in for additional details,” stated the notice published on the official website.
The OPSC selection procedure will encompass a preliminary examination (objective type), followed by the main examination for those who qualify. The main examination will include both written assessments and an interview to select candidates for various services and roles.
Only those candidates who hold a Bachelor’s degree from any government-recognized university are eligible to apply for the positions. The age requirement for candidates is between 21 and 38 years as of January 1, 2024. This stipulates that OPSC applicants must have been born no earlier than January 2, 1986, and no later than January 1, 2003.
The OPSC preliminary examination will consist of two mandatory objective-type papers, each with a maximum score of 200 marks for Paper I and Paper II.
The majority of questions in the examination will incur a penalty for incorrect responses, with one-third (0.33) of the marks allocated to a question being deducted for each erroneous answer. Nevertheless, certain questions will adopt a more sophisticated marking strategy, incorporating negative marking into the scoring framework, which will assign varying marks depending on the relevance of the chosen answer.
A comprehensive notification detailing the OCSE application timeline, syllabus, examination format, marking standards, structure of the mains examination, number of available positions, and other essential information will be released by the Commission in due time.
