In a major relief to senior secondary students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline to apply for scanned photocopies of Class 12 board examination answer sheets. Candidates now have until May 24, 2026, to submit their requests.
The emergency extension was formally announced in an official directive issued by Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, the CBSE Controller of Examinations.
Server Congestion and Security Concerns
According to the board’s statement, the central portal has encountered an immense surge in digital traffic over the past several days, leading to operational delays and sporadic server disruptions.
Furthermore, the authorities noted that the website faced multiple attempts of unauthorized external interference, complicating the situation for applicants. The board emphasized that the deadline extension was implemented to guarantee equitable access and ensure that no student loses out on the post-result verification process due to infrastructure bottlenecks.
Impact on Post-Result Evaluation Timeline
The standard post-result re-evaluation framework is structured in consecutive, interdependent tiers. Obtaining a digital copy of the evaluated answer booklet is a mandatory prerequisite for students wishing to challenge specific markings.
To prevent cascading delays, the CBSE has clarified the following operational protocols:
- Subsequent Appeals: Students will still receive a dedicated window of up to two days after they successfully receive their scanned answer booklet to apply for the next stages, which include marks verification and subsequent re-evaluation.
- Terms and Conditions: All other guidelines, fees, and processing rules outlined in the original evaluation notification remain strictly unaltered.
The board has strongly advised all dissatisfied or anxious candidates to capitalize on this additional time window and file their digital applications on the official portal before the new cutoff date.
