The Massive Open Online Courses are highly helpful to candidates looking to acquire new degrees/diplomas and certificates. Or simply to learn new things and improve knowledge. To add to the learning of future students, learners and knowledge seekers the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, India has rolled out 78 undergraduate and 46 postgraduate non-engineering Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs).
The candidates studying regular or part time programs in the affiliated colleges and universities including the Delhi University, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will be allowed to avail the course-credit transfer benefit out of these programs. These courses are rolled out by the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) set up under the inter-university centre of University Grants Commission. The courses will be available through Swayam portal and UGC portal.
Also UGC has launched MOOCs on Swayam portal targeting academic fraternity, professionals, senior citizens and ‘stay at home persons’. Separate Swayam mentors are also appointed from different zones to help the students in taking up the online courses. Educating masses and making education available to all is the key to growth and MOOCs are best tools to educate everyone.
