The written examination is set to take place on August 3, 2025, consisting of two distinct papers. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has initiated the online application process for the recruitment of 357 Assistant Commandants (ACs) within the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Interested and eligible candidates may submit their applications for this recruitment initiative at upsconline.gov.in until March 25.

The anticipated vacancies to be filled through this examination are as follows:

BSF: 24 vacancies

CRPF: 204 vacancies

CISF: 92 vacancies

ITBP: 4 vacancies

SSB: 33 vacancies

Total: 357 vacancies

Admit cards will be made available on the last working day of the week preceding the examination date at upsconline.gov.in. The written examination is scheduled for August 3, 2025, with Paper 1 taking place from 10 AM to 12 PM and Paper 2 from 2 PM to 5 PM.

The first paper will focus on General Ability and Intelligence, carrying a total of 250 marks. This paper will consist of objective-type questions presented in both English and Hindi.

Paper 2 will cover General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension, with a total of 200 marks. Candidates will have the option to write the essay portion in either English or Hindi; however, the sections on precis writing, comprehension, and other language skills must be completed in English.

Following the written examination, candidates will undergo a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), a Physical Standards Test (PST), an Interview/Personality Test, and a Medical Standards Test.

Candidates must be at least 20 years old and not exceed 25 years of age as of August 1, 2025. This stipulation indicates that candidates must have been born no earlier than August 2, 2000, and no later than August 1, 2005. The upper age limit will be relaxable for candidates belonging to reserved categories. For further details, please refer to the official notification.

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification is the minimum educational requirement for the UPSC CAPF ACs 2025 examination. Candidates who are in the process of completing their final degree examination may apply provisionally. Should they qualify for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) or the Physical Standards Test (PST), they must provide evidence of having passed the qualifying examination within the specified timeframe, as outlined in Sub-Rules 9.1 and 9.2 of Rule 15 of the CAPF (AC) Exam, 2025.

The UPSC has stated that only valid documentation confirming the completion of the qualifying examination, such as a Degree Certificate, Final Mark Sheet, or Provisional Degree Certificate, which are typically issued by the relevant authority following the official announcement of results by the University or Boards, will be accepted.

In exceptional circumstances, the Union Public Service Commission may consider a candidate without the aforementioned qualifications as eligible, provided that the candidate has successfully completed an examination conducted by other institutions, the standard of which, in the Commission’s view, warrants their admission to the examination.

Additionally, candidates holding professional and technical qualifications recognized by the Government as equivalent to a professional or technical degree are also eligible to apply for the examination.

Candidates who have been finally selected based on a previous examination will not be permitted to participate in any subsequent examination for the recruitment of Assistant Commandants in the participating Central Armed Police Forces.

The application fee is set at ₹200, which is waived for female candidates as well as those belonging to the SC/ST categories.
