The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board, known as WBJEEB, has requested that all candidates from the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) upload their caste certificates on the official WBJEEB website at wbjeeb.nic.in. The deadline for submitting these certificates is August 21, 2025.
The official announcement states, “Candidates from SC/ST/OBC are urged to specify their respective caste, tribe, or community names, and to upload their corresponding certificates through the portal available on WBJEEB’s website from 18.08.2025 to 21.08.2025 (11:59 PM).”
Court’s directive to WBJEEB
It is noteworthy that on August 7, the Calcutta High Court instructed WBJEEB to issue a new merit list for examinees, indicating that the previously published list did not comply with the court’s ruling regarding OBC reservations.
Justice Kausik Chanda mandated that the new list should include a 7 percent reservation for the 66 categories of OBC candidates recognized by the West Bengal Backward Classes Department prior to 2010, as reported by the news agency PTI.
Justice Chandra further emphasized that this entire process should be finalized within 15 days from the date of the order. The WBJEE results were initially set to be announced on August 7, 2025, as communicated by WBJEE board chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee.
WBJEE 2025 was conducted on April 27 in two sessions: from 11 AM to 1 PM, and from 2 PM to 4 PM.
