The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), an apex body operating under the Digital India Corporation and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has formally opened registrations for its Non-Technical Summer Internship Programme 2026.
The centralized training initiative offers Indian university students structural exposure to national-level digital frameworks, policy execution, and public service delivery mechanisms. Eligible candidates must submit their digital applications by Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Available Domains and Operational Scale
The division has allocated a total of 10 structural internship seats across five targeted functional domains:
- Programme Management: 5 vacancies
- Awareness and Communication: 2 vacancies
- Capacity Building: 2 vacancies
- Technology Management: 2 vacancies
- Project Appraisal: 1 vacancy
Selected interns will be paired with an institutional Head of Division (HOD) for direct mentorship. The nature of the work spans multiple core specializations, including public policy documentation, advanced data analytics, Natural Language Processing (NLP) integration, and data privacy legal research centered around the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act. Participants will also explore public sector deployment models for emerging technologies like AI, blockchain, and cloud computing.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the following institutional benchmarks to be considered for screening:
- Academic Record: A minimum aggregate of 60% marks in their most recent qualifying degree or certificate examination.
- Educational Background: Students pursuing pre-final or final years of standard graduation models (10+2+3), engineering degrees (10+2+4), structural diplomas, or integrated dual-degree programs (10+2+5).
- Flexible Clausality: The competent authority retains the right to relax standard qualifying benchmarks for exceptional candidates based on organizational requirements.
- Institutional Weightage: Meeting the minimum grade threshold does not secure selection. The review board will prioritize candidates from premier academic backgrounds, giving additional statistical weightage to institutions ranked within the top 100 of the Ministry of Education’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
